Events of the North
We're passionate about sport here at Right Lines, so we absolutely love working on the various races organised by Events of the North (EotN), the company set up by athletics legend Steve Cram. We thoroughly enjoy being involved in the various races that EotN organises, namely the Run Sunderland Festival, Kielder Marathon weekend, Durham City Run, Worcester City Run and Mestival.
The Parsons Group
These are exciting times for the Parsons Group of companies and it's great to play a role in spreading the word about the firm's latest developments, including the opening of a major new U Hold The Key self-storage site on the A66 in Darlington (see this piece in The Northern Echo).
Parsons is a really progressive company in the shipping container industry, with a team that's bursting with good ideas and passionate about great customer service. The launch of a new email newsletter is just one example of how the business is really proactive in its communications.
The newsletter is the result of some excellent teamwork, involving Ean Parsons and his team, Northgate Systems, and us (not forgetting the brand architecture created by Edmundson Design that the newsletter showcases very well).
Last year, the European Outdoor Group (EOG) launched a campaign to promote participation in outdoor activities. The EOG is the trade organisation that represents and promotes the outdoor sector throughout Europe, and its members include some of the industry's biggest brands and retailers. In response to the inactivity crisis that threatens to engulf Europe, the European Commission has started to focus on getting the general public to be more active. The EOG committed to support that initiative with #itsgreatoutthere, inspiring and encouraging people to head for the outdoors. The first phase of the campaign aimed to raise awareness and reached millions of people.
For 2016, #itsgreatoutthere will focus on young people and will see companies arrange their own events, literally giving the next generation opportunities to enjoy outdoor experiences. To showcase how this might work, the EOG teamed up with Berghaus and a local primary school in Sunderland and took 50 children on a mini adventure in a country park. Right Lines came up with the concept and organised the event. You can see a short film of the results here and look out for more #itsgreatoutthere activities throughout the year.
We love working with international children's charity COCO (Comrades of Children Overseas). Co-founded in 2000 by Steve Cram and former British Army Major Jim Panton, COCO is based in North East England and works with communities in remote regions of the developing world to alleviate the poverty that prevents children’s education. COCO focuses on small, sustainable, community led initiatives that can make a big difference at a local level. Since its foundation, the North East based charity has raised nearly £4 million and is currently working with project partners in Tanzania, Kenya and Ghana.
COCO organises a wide range of fundraising initiatives every year and many of them are linked to sport (especially running, which is no surprise given the background of one of the charity's co-founders). Right Lines helps to publicise those events, and also shine a spotlight on the great work that COCO does in using money raised to transform lives in East Africa. We work hard to highlight the openness and transparency of the charity - COCO does a lot to make sure that supporters have sight of how their donations are used, which is really commendable.
It's always busy on the Berghaus front and we love that! As ever, there are plenty of projects underway and loads of great new products to shout about. The brand is in very good health at the moment and the team there is continuing to drive innovation in outdoor gear development from the company's stunning HQ in North East England.
Berghaus works with some of the world's greatest adventurers, including Sir Chris Bonington, Mick Fowler and Leo Houlding. Those guys always provide a wealth of amazing content for our team to use, as do the likes of Molly Thompson-Smith, Steve Birkinshaw and Angelika Rainer. Meanwhile, we also get a real buzz out of helping to promote Berghaus' involvement in big events, such as Keswick Mountain Festival, Kendal Mountain Festival and of course the Berghaus Dragon's Back Race, one of the world's most challenging (and stunning) adventure races.
Keep up with all things Berghaus at the brand's excellent Facebook page.
Keswick Mountain Festival
One of the highlights of our working year is Keswick Mountain Festival (KMF). Although a lot our work is done during the build up to the event, the Right Lines team is always on site during the festival - it's a bit of a working holiday really! Sure, we put a lot of time and effort into making sure that KMF achieves the high profile it richly deserves, but we also have a lot of fun at what has become one of the very best outdoor events in the UK.
Big name speakers, sports events galore, outdoor activities, live music and a Festival Village packed with things to do and see - and all in a stunning Lakeland setting. How could we not enjoy being involved in this brilliant event?
Eureka!, NIGOR and Helinox
We love working in the outdoor industry, as it's a business sector where innovation thrives. We see that in the outdoor media month after month, and of course even more regularly on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and the like. That innovation can be seen in marketing communications activity and in approaches to doing business, but as has always been the case, its most obvious manifestation is in new products.
Right Lines is representing three great brands from mainland Europe that are starting to make a big impact in the UK. Eureka! is probably the best known of these and is well regarded as a manufacturer of high quality, excellent value tents and outdoor furniture. NIGOR was founded in 2014 and follows an approach of no compromise to make tents that use the most advanced materials and design around.
Helinox also uses cutting edge materials and design in a range of extremely lightweight and packable camping furniture and walking poles. We've been using the Helinox Chair One for a while now and love it!
European Outdoor Group
Right Lines has been working with the European Outdoor Group (EOG) since 2012. Founded in 2003, the EOG has over 60 members, including many of the biggest outdoor brands in Europe. The organisation promotes the outdoor industry and represents it in a positive and constructive manner at all levels. In a spirit of cooperation (and understanding that in many areas collective effort can benefit everyone in the sector), EOG members work together on a wide range of projects, in areas such as market research, sustainability, events and the promotion of outdoor activities to the general public.
We support the EOG's work in numerous areas, including PR, print and online copywriting, newsletter production and social media. Right Lines works closely with the management team at the EOG and with some of the association's other suppliers, including another local company, Edmundson Design.
Manor House 1707
At Right Lines, we are fortunate to have an office in the fantastic Manor House, in the centre of Sedgefield. The magnificent 18th Century building changed hands towards the end of 2014 and new owner, Manor House 1707, is now renting the 17 rooms on three floors as offices and meeting and events space. The building has been very well looked after in recent years and has just been redecorated. The facilities here are excellent and we're nice and close to all of the local shops and some excellent pubs, cafes and restaurants.
A few offices have already been rented out and we're sure that the building will fill up quickly. So, if you're interested in office space in the middle of County Durham, get in touch quick. You can find out more at www.manorhousesedgefield.co.uk, by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 01740 629999.
